An example of Rick's antique restoration work:

  • Colour Matching

On many occasions Rick is required to colour match wood repairs to the original colour and grain of the remainder of the piece in question.

This example shows Rick at work using several pencil brushes and colours to re-grain damaged areas. Replacement parts sometimes require this technique,  or in some occasions an area may have been lightened by over exposure to the sun.

Colour matching being done by Rick This technique takes year of practice to achieve the standard which Rick attains.

All such techniques used in his work as a furniture restorer, were taught to him by his father over many years of working together in their business Ron Denning & Son, then based in Stratford NZ.
